Jet Ski Off-Season & Storage Care in South Florida

In South Florida you can ride year-round — but most skis still sit for weeks at a time. Sitting is when the damage happens: stale fuel, dead batteries and corrosion. Here's how to store it right, whether it's two weeks or two months.

Fuel: fill it and stabilize it

Fill the tank and add a fuel stabilizer, then run the engine briefly so treated fuel reaches the whole system. A full tank leaves less room for moisture to condense in the humidity.

Battery: keep it charged

A battery left sitting slowly drains — and a fully drained battery may never recover. Use a battery tender, or disconnect the negative cable if the ski will sit for more than a couple of weeks.

Flush, rinse and protect

Always flush the cooling system and exhaust with fresh water before storage, rinse the hull and pump, and treat the engine bay with an anti-corrosion spray. Leave it to dry before covering.

Out of the water if you can

Skis left in the water grow marine growth on the hull and intake, which costs performance and can block cooling. A lift or trailer keeps it clean and dry.

Cover it — the right way

A breathable, fitted cover keeps sun, rain and critters out. Avoid trapping moisture: let the ski dry fully first.

Start it every couple of weeks

If you can, run the engine (with the right flushing procedure) every couple of weeks to keep seals lubricated and the battery topped up.

Or put it on a plan

This is exactly what our membership plans are for: we visit every month, check the battery, run and flush the ski and catch problems early — so it's ready whenever you are.

Quick answers

How long can a jet ski sit without being started?

A few weeks is usually fine with stabilized fuel and a charged battery. Beyond that, keep it on a battery tender and have it checked before riding.

Should I leave my jet ski in the water?

Ideally no — a lift or trailer prevents marine growth on the hull and intake and keeps the ski drier.
